The Journey

From beach bum to crab slayer

There are two ways through the Summer event, and they earn the same things. Fight your way up the minion ladder to the Crab, or fish the Summer Fishing Island and hand catch tasks to Old Salt. Use the buttons at the top to show just one route, or leave it on both.

Both pay Summer tokens, both drop the cosmetic sets, and both feed the same shop. The combat ladder still looks like this:

Getting Started

Find Captain Summers

The whole event is hosted by Captain Summers, standing at home. Talk to him for your starter gear, and right-click → Summer Point Shop to spend your points.

All three are account-bound (untradeable & kept on death). Captain Summers will re-issue any you're missing, so you can never lose them for good.

The Hunt

Minion tiers & the tier gate

Each minion needs a weapon of at least its tier. A T3 weapon can kill everything; a T1 weapon can only scratch seagulls.

Every minion drops Summer Tokens (your points/currency) plus coins, and — rarely — pirate cosmetics and the crafting material shown above.

🪶 Seagulls also flock to the Skilling Citadel! On top of the home beach, Summer Seagulls now roam all across the Skilling Citadel's four map areas — a second hunting ground for T1 minions while you skill. They behave exactly like the beach flock (same tier, drops and tokens), and are cleared automatically when the event ends.

Points & crafting materials

There are two separate currencies and they are easy to mix up. Tokens are an item in your bag; Points are a number on your account.

Upgrading

The Divine Forge

Open the Divine Forge and head to the Event Weapons tab → Summer T2 / Summer T3 sub-tabs. Failed upgrades only burn your tokens — your weapon and materials are safe.

Endgame

☀️ Summer BIS Weapons

Use a BIS Weapon Recolor Scroll on a Twisted bow, Scythe of vitur or Tumeken's shadow and it becomes the Summer variant — a summer-themed version that behaves exactly like the original, with every bonus raised by 5%.

A couple of very small stats round back to their original value (the shadow's prayer bonus, the scythe's slash defence), so a few numbers look unchanged — everything meaningful moved up.

The Finale

🦀 The Summer Crab

The event boss — a giant crab that stole Captain Summers' treasure. It's a solo, instanced fight: the only way in is to consume a Crab Teleport scroll, which drops you into your own private lair. You'll need a Tier 3 Summer weapon to damage it.

Read the tell, flick the prayer

Before each hit the crab shouts a color-coded line above its head. Match your overhead prayer to the color:

It holds a style for a couple of casts before switching, so you're not flicking every single hit — watch for the color to change.

The Summer Point Shop

Right-click Captain Summers → Summer Point Shop. Selling cosmetics here is the main way to earn points — this shop is both where you get them and where you spend them.

Sell for points

The pirate garments pay a flat rate by tier. The three cosmetic sets pay less per piece, because they drop far more often.

💡 Why the harder minions are still better. A Seagull dies roughly ten times faster than a Tortoise, so the cosmetic values only climb 1 : 1.5 : 2 — it's the far better drop rates on the tougher minions that do the real work. Add the guaranteed token drops (Seagull 1–10, Bug 10–50, Tortoise 50–150) and camping seagulls is never the efficient play.

The Wardrobe

🍉 The three cosmetic sets

Each minion drops its own six-piece outfit. They're pure cosmetics with no combat bonuses — but one piece of each set is something you can actually ride.

Every set slots the same way: shirt and legs in your body and legs slots, shell on your back, boots or the sled on your feet, and balloons in your weapon hand.

The rarest set is the Watermelon one, despite coming from the easiest minion — a Seagull dies in seconds, so its drops are pitched much rarer to compensate.

🎟️ The Summer Scratcher

Buy a Summer Scratcher Coin #7939 from the Summer Point Shop for 500 points and scratch it for a guaranteed Summer prize. Two boards, tropical artwork, and every single card wins something — there is no losing outcome.

Roughly one card in four is tokens, one in ten is 5M coins, and three in five is a cosmetic piece. The Crab Teleport scroll is the jackpot at about one card in 275 — and it pays three scrolls, worth 3,000 points at shop prices.

The BIS Weapon Recolor Scroll is not on this card. Craft it at the forge, or buy it in the Summer Point Shop.

The Skilling Route

🎣 The Summer Fishing Island

The event's second route. Everything the combat half earns — tokens, cosmetics, forge materials — can be earned here instead, with a rod instead of a sword. Ask Captain Summers to send you, or take the Summer Fishing Event teleport. Open only while the event is running.

The Water

Three zones, earned in order

Each zone has its own fish and its own pair of tools — one cheap and slow, one dearer and faster. Carry both and you'll always fish with the quick one.

Tools work from your inventory or worn — the cormorant glove can be equipped to your hands if you would rather not carry it. Carry both tools for a zone and you will always fish with the faster one.

Vials drop while you fish — the currents vial from the shallows, the abyss vial from the Currents — so the island unlocks in order. Both also sell at Old Salt's shop if the grind isn't going your way. Drinking one opens that water permanently.

The Loop

📋 Catch tasks

Ask Old Salt for a task and he'll name a fish and a number — 15 to 40. The newest water you've opened is where most tasks send you.

Handing in

• He takes the fish — a task costs you the catch.
• He'll count fish from your bank as well as your inventory, so a 40-fish task needn't fit in 28 slots.
• Only freshly caught fish count toward a task, so a stocked bank can't complete one on its own.
• Stuck with a fish you don't want? Skip for a few Summer points.

What a task pays

Plus every cosmetic roll the catch earned, and occasionally a few Summer points. Finish tasks regularly and a streak bonus builds, up to +50%.

The Catch

🍳 Cooking & selling

All nine fish cook into real food, from a 3-heal shrimp up to a 22-heal anglerfish.

Prices are in Summer tokens, and cooked sells for double — cooking is a real second trip, and you'll burn a few getting there. Sell to the Summer Fish Market or right-click Old Salt → Exchange.

Kit

💎 Summer Fishing Tracker

Sold in both Summer shops for 25 points. It works like a Slayer gem:

While a task is live you also get an on-screen tracker bar with live progress, and a chat update every 5 catches. The bar only shows on the island, collapses to a palm icon if you right-click it, and drags anywhere with SHIFT.

🎽 The Angler outfit

Old Salt sells all four pieces at 600 points each. Wear them while fishing the island:

Both fish count toward your task, so the full set cuts about a quarter off the fishing half of every task. If your bag is full when the second fish lands it goes to your bank rather than being lost.

The bonus applies on the Summer island only — the outfit does nothing at ordinary fishing spots.

Open the arrow tab on the side of your screen and pick Summer Event for a beach-themed progress panel that shows everything at a glance:

🌴 The world dresses up too. While the event runs, palm trees and shells scatter across the open ground of home, the Skilling Citadel and the Wilderness — and even the dead wilderness trees green up for the season. It all clears away automatically when the event ends.
